A deal dressed as a crime

The problem

An unpaid-invoice dispute between two businesses was turned into an FIR for cheating against a small manufacturer — and the threat of arrest was used to force a settlement.

What we did

We secured anticipatory bail first, so the pressure lost its edge. Then we put the paper trail — invoices, emails, part-payments — before the High Court under Section 528 of the BNSS, to show a commercial dispute in criminal clothing and seek to quash the FIR.

Outcome

Protection from arrest, and the dispute pushed back where it belongs: a civil claim, argued on its merits.
